About the Mobile Repair Service
Mobile Repair Service provides skilled technical help in their homes to people with disabilities and older people. It can often be very stressful for our users and their carers when things go wrong in their home.
As well as being anxious about the cost, users fear being cheated or robbed and find it difficult to get commercial services to take on small jobs, jobs on older equipment and jobs where appointments are difficult to arrange because of the user has a disability or speaks little English. Mobile aims to overcome these barriers facing its users by providing services free or at low-cost and by working in ways that are appropriate to its users’ special needs.
It currently has 3 main areas of work:
- Repair services covering heating, electrics, plumbing and carpentry in 5 north London boroughs, Islington, Camden, Haringey, Enfield and Hackney;
- Provision of small aids in Islington and Hackney;
- Accident Prevention, mostly falls prevention work with older people.
