Why is a safety check important?
When we are older, we fall more often and when we fall we are much more likely to hurt ourselves.
- Every 5 hours an older person is killed as the result of a fall in the home.
- 400,000 accidental older people attend Accident and Emergency departments following a fall.
- 40% of people moving into care homes do so because of a fall.
The good news is that many of these falls could be avoided. Working with St John’s Way Medical Centre, Mobile Repair is offering a quick way for people to do something about the hazards in their home which are one of the causes of falls.
